Lebanon: Destination for Bayt.com’s Virtual Job Fair this September

August 26th, 2009  |  Posted in Bayt news by Mona Karaoui  |  No Comments

Following the unprecedented success of Bayt.com’s series of Virtual Job Fairs across the Middle East Region throughout the past year, the great minds behind these series have, once again, come together to decide that Lebanon will be Bayt.com’s next VJF destination, in a bid to boost the Lebanese employment market and get Lebanese job seekers and employers seeking top Lebanese talent together under one roof: Bayt’s  revolutionary and unique virtual roof, part of a platform that will enable them to share knowledge, thoughts, concerns , “CVs” and “job vacancies” real-time and in inimitable style.

What exactly is a Virtual Job Fair? The Virtual Job Fair is an innovative online recruitment environment that goes live and stays live for a limited period of time. It is designed to effectively connect qualified job seekers and top employers on-line in order to exchange valuable information for recruitment purposes.

How exactly does it work? Bayt.com’s Virtual Job fair takes place completely online. Throughout the whole period of the VJF, job seekers will be able to apply to jobs 24/7 while employers will be present online in their “Virtual Booths” to answer and ask questions and offer details about employment opportunities in their companies.

What are the participation costs for Job Seekers? Job Seeker participation is absolutely FREE of charge. Professionals simply log on, register and start interacting with their employers of choice at http://virtualjobfair.bayt.com

What are the participation costs for Employers? Employer Participation fees are extremely low compared to the costs of the traditional physical job fair: no travel costs are incurred (it all takes place online), no branding material or physical booths are required (these also take place online), thus, all costs are reduced dramatically and the recruitment ROI at these fairs is exemplary. Interested employers can request a call from Bayt.com and can learn more about VJF from this URL http://virtualjobfair.bayt.com/en_CA/guest/employers

Bayt Jobs on Twitter

April 15th, 2009  |  Posted in Bayt news, Digital Marketing, Using Bayt by Dan Stuart  |  2 Comments

You’d have to try hard not to hear Twitter mentioned by Larry King, or CNN, or Ashton Kutcher, or Gulf News, and so on. The buzz around Twitter is huge and people are micro-blogging their interests 140 characters at a time from across the globe.

So what’s the big deal? Well, Twitter’s appeal to many is the ease of publishing snippets of information, links, thoughts, new events comments - among other things. twitter appeals to the blogging crowd who never had the time or attention span to compose blog posts, or to the individuals and business looking for information in real-time. Do a Google search and you get a list of indexed web pages - after Google has crawled them. Do a Twitter search and you get real-time citizen-powered journalism. Twitter is part of the real-time web.

We’re running our own little experiment here with Twitter. We’re tweeting some of our media, marketing and tech jobs on a Twitter account. We have job alerts which let the tech do the work for the job seeker - pushing matching jobs out to job seekers at their request. With this Twitter account, people can “follow” us and get updates in their Twitter feed.

It’s purely opt-in and we are sticking to this niche of jobs since this reflects the early-adopters who are on Twitter. If people find this valuable then we have plans to expand this service for people.

If you’re on Twitter you can follow us here @BaytJobs

I’m on Twitter too, so feel free to follow @danstuart

I Can Draw Contest - We Have A Winner!

March 19th, 2009  |  Posted in Bayt news by Dan Stuart  |  5 Comments

Update

The first finished video from our content winner Wassim Dardari is here http://www.bayt.com/en/video/

Original Post

It’s been a great week…but tough too.

Back in January we launched our I Can Draw Video Contest to crowdsource video content for Bayt.com. The idea was that we wanted video content for Bayt.com that would help our users better understand our role in the recruitment process so that they get the most out of Bayt.com. Also, a series of explanation videos will help the visual/auditory learner. With over 70,000 daily visitors to Bayt.com and 100’s of employers using our site each day we definitely have a diverse user group.

Because we had never done this before, we started the contest not knowing what we would get. What we did know is that we have a huge group of users from the creative fields so we spoke directly to them. We asked for their help. We needed their help so we could help our users in turn.

Helping Dubai’s Unemployed Find Jobs in Dubai - One Person At A Time

February 16th, 2009  |  Posted in Bayt news by Dan Stuart  |  3 Comments

A few days ago we announced that we would be providing free CV consulting and lunch for unemployed job seekers on the common area outside our head office in Dubai Internet City.

You read stories from news sources that cover the globe. You hear the numbers but you rarely meet the people. Dubai has been no stranger to these stories about Jobs in Dubai, though the actual numbers are a little more difficult to come by. A few weeks back we decided that we can just read the numbers, or we can help the people affected. We chose to help the job seekers who have been the life-blood of Bayt.com for almost 9 years now.

We have done 2 sessions so far, with 8 more to go, and we have already come face-to-face with over 140 job seekers. I personally met 10 job seekers today for one-on-one CV consultation sessions. While I respected the challenges of the situation that many found themselves in - whether they were entry-level, senior managers, or all levels in between - I was also deeply impressed by the quality of people who are now looking for Jobs in Dubai. For companies currently growing headcount and/or looking to engage in a drive for quality, there is a wealth of talent in the market right now looking for Jobs in Dubai.
