Finding Jobs in the MENA Region Just Got Faster and Easier
It’s here, it’s arrived and we’re very happy about it!
A few weeks back we mentioned in our first blog post of 2009 that we would be making some changes to the job seeker experience at Bayt.com, and that day has arrived.
We started with one clear objective: to make the process of looking for, finding and applying to jobs on Bayt.com faster, easier and more efficient and thereby shortening the time it takes for you to build your lifestyle of choice.
It took us many months of looking critically at our current systems, processes and website functionality. We also looked externally at the best websites in the world that make finding information and taking actions as simple and effective as possible. Throughout the process our ongoing consideration was the continual stream of suggestions that we receive from job seekers based on their usage of our site. With over 70,000 daily visitors to Bayt.com, we have a great user group providing excellent feedback.
In the end, we are proud to say that we have improved Bayt.com for job seekers who asked the following questions:
- Why should I put my CV on Bayt.com? In the past we asked visitors to register and build a CV on Bayt.com, and then look for and apply to jobs. Over 1,750,000 job seekers have responded to this call based on our growing number of job listings. We decided that we wanted jobs to be at the core of everything we do – and that you do. Therefore, we now promote jobs on our site – the high volume of jobs – as the greatest incentive to register and build a CV. The emphasis is now to look for a job, find a job that matches your experience and interests, and apply by registering and building a CV.
- How do I use Bayt.com as a job seeker? Job seekers by their very nature are looking for jobs. Therefore, we made the job search the central part of the homepage and all other pages because at all times job seekers need quick access to find jobs. Also, we want job seekers to find jobs rather than look for jobs. We did this by setting-up our Find Jobs Bar and browse jobs pages so that job seekers are intelligently guided toward current relevant job listings.
- Can you make finding the right job easier for me? You can start your job finding process by using the Find Jobs Bar, and you can also browse jobs by sector, industry, location and company. What we added was the ability to then zoom in and zoom out of this job results list using key job criteria in the left sidebar. These ‘clustered’ criteria present choices to zoom in on a more detailed list of results, and then zoom back out if necessary. This powerful and intelligent job results list makes the job search process a more efficient and effective experience.
- I want to build a CV, but can you make the process easier for me? We are strong believers that a highly structured CV built with the Bayt CV Builder is the best way for job seekers to get noticed because employers can pinpoint specific areas of the job seeker’s experience. We have made significant changes to the Bayt CV Builder to ensure that a job seeker’s CV is still easy for employers to pinpoint, but we made the process of building and updating the CV much simpler for job seekers through better organization and new technologies. Also, you can upload or paste the body content of your CV into the CV Builder if you prefer this build method.
You will not notice many of the other changes we made to the site – and that’s how we want it. Technology should help you achieve your goals. The less noticeable it is, the more effective it is – like an invisible hand assisting you when you are trying to get things done.
We’ll go into more detail about the changes through follow-up blog posts over the next few days.
We’re not done, either. We will launch many more changes – both large and small over the coming days – but we wanted to launch these major changes to get your feedback. Please help us help you by providing feedback either as comments to this blog post or by emailing us here.
We look forward to your thoughts. Good luck in your building your lifestyle of choice.
